Insoles and Orthotics

Insoles and orthotics are devices that are placed into your shoes. They change what happens when your foot hits the ground. They can be used to improve posture and redistribute pressure in the foot and ankle. They can be used on a short term basis to facilitate injury recovery, and they can be used on a long term basis to manage recurrent or chronic issues. They can be used intermittently for aggravating footwear or activities, or they can be worn full time in all of your footwear.

Insoles

Insoles are off-the-shelf devices. They typically last 12-18 months. We have a range of off-the-shelf devices to suit a variety of aggravating footwear and activities. We assess your foot standing on one of these devices. We then customise the insole to improve posture and/or redistribute pressure as appropriate. Insoles can be easily adjusted onsite to achieve the best results. These devices are utilised on both a short-term and a long-term basis by our patients. They can also be utilised in an exploratory manner to determine your ideal orthotic prescription.

Orthotics

Orthotics are custom devices. They typically last 10-15 years. The thickness and material of the orthotic can be tailored to the aggravating shoes and / or activities. We take a 3D foam mould of your foot. We then take a 3D scan of that mould, which is then 3D printed and adjusted, based on our prescription. These devices are typically utilised by our patients on a long term basis.
