Physiotherapy Treatment

Here at The Court Clinic, our chartered physiotherapists have access to a suite of treatment modalities. We utilise these treatment options in a targeted fashion based on current scientific evidence. A variety of treatment techniques may be employed to address your issue, depending on the nature and location of your injury.

Manual Therapy

Precise, effective manual therapy is the centrepiece of quality physiotherapy practice. Manual therapy describes the manipulation of body tissue to facilitate normal tissue function and pain reduction. Our chartered physiotherapists are equipped with a range of manual therapy techniques, including myofascial release, postural release, muscle energy techniques, joint mobilisation, traction therapy and passive stretching. At The Court Clinic, our skills in manual therapy are held in very high regard, and we take pride in guiding junior physiotherapists to become exceptional manual therapists.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a modern and highly effective form of treatment. We have found shockwave therapy to be particularly helpful in the management of long-standing tendon and fascia injuries such as chronic plantar fasciopathy and chronic achilles tendinopathy. Our Enraf-Nonius device creates physical shockwaves which are then conducted from the handpiece to the injured tissue. These shockwaves accelerate the healing process by causing cavitation in the tissues, which activates the body’s self-healing capacities.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy incorporates the use of a special high-power laser for physical medicine. We have found later therapy to be a very helpful tool in the management of chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis. A laser is introduced to the tissue through a hand-held device. The laser is absorbed by body tissue, causing a thermal (heating) reaction due to the conversion of light energy into heat. Simultaneously, a part of the laser energy is converted into chemical reaction energy, which causes an increase in energy metabolism activity which is known as “biostimulation”.

Exercise Therapy

In almost every case, a form of exercise therapy will be utilised to help manage your issue.  Exercise therapy can include stretching exercises, stretching exercises and/or general aerobic exercise such as walking, running or swimming. Where appropriate, your chartered physiotherapist will prescribe and demonstrate your exercises for you in your appointment. Your exercises may then be sent to you by email via our Physiotools software programme. You will also be able to access your exercises on the Physiotools Trainer app. Make sure you use the same email address that you gave us when logging into the Physiotools Trainer app.

Supportive Devices

At The Court Clinic, we stock a range of supportive devices including ankle supports, knee supports, toe supports and insoles. Our chartered physiotherapists may prescribe a supportive device for you to help aid your recovery. In some cases, supportive devices will be utilised to facilitate tissue healing. In other cases, devices will be employed to reduce the impact of issues relating to posture or arthritis. Visit our Insoles and Orthotics page for more detailed information about those types of devices.
